The team

The Stal Krol team consists of father Nelleke Krol and stable rider Iris Hooymans. Father Nico Krol founded the stable and has since handed it over to his daughter Nelleke. However, Nico remains involved behind the scenes, such as with inspecting horses or transporting them.

On this page you can read more about the team behind Stal Krol.

Who do you want to get to know better?

Nelleke Krol

Nelleke is a real horse lover in everything she does. From a young age, she has always been involved in her parents’ business. In the first instance by training various horses to Heavy Tour level in combination with a position at a horse company outside the door such as the Horse Sector Council and HAS University of Applied Sciences.

The interest in breeding was present early on. She is Chair of KWPN North Brabant and a member of the KWPN Members’ Council. In addition, she is active in dressage horse breeding.

In addition to her role as a board member at the VSN (Dutch Sport Horse Trade Association), Nelleke now works full-time in the company, where she focuses on the buying and selling of horses and training up to Grand Prix level. She is a certified instructor herself (ORUN 4) and provides instruction up to Grand Prix level.

For a number of regular clients (dressage stables) in America, Nelleke is regularly looking for good dressage horses.

Iris Hooymans

As our permanent rider, Iris has been associated with Stal Krol for a few years now. After completing the Equine Management training and the ORUN Level 4 course, she joined our team.

Nico Krol

You can still spot the founder of Stal Krol in the stables every day. His main task is taking care of the horses, supervise the breeding horses and the purchase of horses.

He was one of the first Dutchies which attends the inspections in Holstein on an annual basis. This provides him to bring ‘new blood’ to our country as a progressive breeder.

With an excellent eye for a good horse, he bought the talents from inside and outside the country at an early age. With this approach he has managed to spot several stallions at an early stage. Today we still make great use of his expertise and experience.
